FAQs
Will poultry netting keep predators out?
Poultry netting is a good cost-effective way of keeping foxes, badgers, cats and other predators away from your chickens and hens. Make sure you install it securely with no weak points or places where animals could get in. Using top-quality netting – like ours at Huck Nets – is also important, as a thin or weak mesh won’t do the job.
Is poultry netting the same as chicken wire?
Poultry netting and chicken wire serve the same purpose – they're both effective at keeping chickens and other poultry within a specific area. Poultry netting tends to be made from polyethylene or polypropylene, while chicken wire is made from thin steel.
Is chicken netting better than electric poultry netting?
Chicken netting is much easier to erect than electric fencing. Electric netting is more expensive, and you need to ensure the power is always on for it to be effective. Chicken netting is a great choice for keeping birds in a confined space. Alternatively, you could use both in conjunction for maximum protection!
How high does a fence need to be to keep chickens in?
It's recommended for chicken nets to be at least 4 feet high, although you may want to extend this if you have particularly clever birds!
